About Us
Eva Bishop, LMBT NC. Lic#11097
Originally from North Dakota, Eva traveled around the U.S. before she settled in Florida where she graduated from The Humanities Center School of Massage in 1990.
She worked full-time as a massage therapist until 2002 when she and her family moved to Waynesville, NC. to enjoy a better quality of life.  She then worked part-time for a few years while her children were young.  She is again back to being a full time therapist and owner of Healing Hands Therapeutic Massage, located just off Main Street in Waynesville, NC.
Drawing upon 29 years of experience and various modalities, Eva customizes each massage to individual's needs.  Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, hot stone massage, reflexology, aromatherapy and contemporary cupping techniques are some of the modalities she uses to soften muscle tissue, release chronic tension and restore equilibrium.

Massage Cupping:
The modern world of healing has embraced another wonderful ancient technique which has powerful results.  Massage cupping is a modified version of "cupping therapy," which has been used extensively in Chinese and Russian medicine for several thousand years.
By creating suction and negative pressure, massage cupping is used to drain excess fluids and toxins; stimulate the peripheral nervous system; bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin; and loosen adhesions, connective tissue and stubborn knots in soft tissue.  Massage oil is applied to the body while an assessment is made to determine areas of tension and congestion.   A cup is placed on the body, a pump is activated and air is removed to create a vacuum.
A cup may be "parked" for a period of 5 to 15 minuted in one location on stubborn knots or over chronic inflamed joints or tissue.  Then the cup is moved to pull the toxins out to lymphatic drainage areas.  Cupping can be used on the neck, shoulders, back, sacral area, hip, abdomen, thigh, upper arms and calves.
The sensation of cupping is often characterized as deep warmth and tingling.  Massage cupping is often used on the broad areas of the back, and is a wonderful addition to any massage.  The treatment is sedating and people will often descend into a profound state of relaxation.  Larger cups may be used on the back; the strong vacuum will mimic the rolling action of deep tissue massage without the discomfort.  The movement may to long and draining or circular and stimulating for stubborn knots and areas of rigid tissue.  The skin will redden with strong massage cupping, indicating that circulation has been brought to the surface.  Areas of discoloration on the skin from cupping correlate to where toxins have built up in the tissue.  The increased local blood supply will nourish the muscles and skin and allow toxins to be carried away.
Massage cupping is also effective in treating cellulite through a series of sessions.  A light suction provides drainage, while heavier application can be used to stimulate circulation and loosen adhesions or "dimpling."

Can be added to Eva's Signature Massage for $10.00 additional.
